
Grand sets had been erected at Sagar film city, Vadodara to depict key areas in the kingdom of Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Ram. NDTV Imagine Channel telecasted the series, and it consisted of nearly three episodes.The enthralling production values and fresh approach to the storytelling gave the new Ramayan an appeal that entertained and delighted viewers across all age groups. Pankaj Kalraa plays the distraught King Dashratha while Vije Bhatia dons the hat of the loyal Bharat. Gurmeet Choudhary, Debina Bonnerjee, and Ankit Arora played the trio Rama, Sita, and Lakshman respectively.Īkhilendra Mishra essays the villainous Ravana. She tells all this to her brother who then kidnaps Sita and takes her away to his country, to take revenge. However, he insults her and cuts off her nose. Meanwhile back in the forest, a demon named Surpanakha, Ravana's sister, falls in love with Lakshman. Bharat listens to his brother but he does so by placing Rama's charan paduka on the chair as he thinks Rama is its rightful owner. His gesture touches Rama, but Rama politely declines his offer and tells him to look after the kingdom until he returns. When Bharat comes to know about his mother's deeds, he abandons her and goes to Rama and requests him to return to Ayodhya. Rama sets out into the forest with his wife Mata Sita and younger sibling Lakshman. Unwillingly, Dasharatha does as Kaikeyi demands. Taking advantage of this, she asks her husband to declare Bharat as the king and banish Rama from the land of Ayodhya for 14 years.

King Dasharatha had promised to complete any two wishes of her as she had saved his life earlier. However, Dasharatha's second wife and Rama's stepmother gets angry as she believes the throne belongs to her son Bharat. Rama, Ayodhya's king Dasharatha's elder son, has come of age and hence his father decides to give the crown to him. Its premise is set in the city of Ayodhya. It is the official remake of Ramayan, a series Anand Sagar's father created in 1980. The serial took inspiration from the Valmiki's Ramayan, Chak Basta's Urdu Ramayan, and Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas. Ravindra Jain is the music composer while Suresh Wadkar and Kavita Krishnamurthy gave their voices to the title track. The makers shot the drama at Sagar Film City, which is a place in Baroda. Pappu Trivedi is the editor and Omang Kumar and Nisha Sagar were responsible for designing the sets and the costumes respectively. Subhash Sagar, Moti Sagar, and Prem Sagar are the producers. Sagar Arts is the creator of Anand Sagar as the director.
